US Iran War LIVE: As Israel continues to expand its ground offensive in southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah operative was killed while collecting an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on Wednesday, the Israel Defence Forces claimed over a statement on X. They said the UAV “posed a threat to our forces in the area,” adding that the Israeli Air Force will “continue to operate in defense and support of our forces in southern Lebanon.”
This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country’s troops were seizing strategic positions inside Lebanese territory. Israeli strikes have killed at least 31 people and injured 40 so far, with attacks also targeting the Bekaa region and Qaraoun Dam area. Netanyahu warned operations against Hezbollah would intensify further.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said a projectile launched from Lebanon triggered sirens in northern Israel before landing in an open area without casualties. Hezbollah claimed attacks on Israeli tanks, communication systems, Iron Dome infrastructure and quadcopters.
Pakistan’s mediator role questioned: Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has termed Pakistan’s role as a potential mediator in the US-Iran conflict as “more than problematic”, citing Islamabad’s long-standing hostility towards Israel. His remarks came after Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif opposed Pakistan joining the Abraham Accords, which seek to establish diplomatic, economic and security ties between Israel and Arab nations. In a post on X, Graham urged Pakistan to respond to US President Donald Trump’s call for mediators in the US-Iran war to join the accords, saying it was “imperative” for Islamabad to clarify its position.
