A day after the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon took hold, the former resumed attacks on southern parts of Lebanon, killing a Lebanese soldier, as well as a family of four on Saturday, Al Jazeera reported. The attack comes as Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is due to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi during his visit to Tehran on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told ISNA news agency.
The ceasefire was announced on Friday after a night of deadly fighting threatened to derail the wider US-Iran agreement reached earlier this week, as American envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi prepared to travel to Switzerland to push talks on a lasting regional settlement forward.
