Day 1 of  Iran-US peace talks Live Iran’s delegation has left the venue of negotiations in Switzerland in protest over recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, Reuters reported citing Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency. The reported act comes after Trump threatened fresh military action against Iran over the activities of Hezbollah in Lebanon and warned Tehran against attempting to close the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, Iran’s parliament speaker and chief negotiator in Switzerland, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dismissed recent warnings from the US President and said Tehran remains prepared to respond to any escalation. “Don’t they think to themselves that if their threats had any effect, they wouldn’t have reached the point of desperation they are in today? We don’t count on the American threats,” he wrote. “They better be careful with their comments, our armed forces are ready to respond in a different way. Whatever they say, we are the ones who will act,” Ghalibaf added.

Trump warns Iran amid talks: In a post on Truth Social, Trump said “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble,” adding, “If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!” Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance said that Trump is “committed to see a full regional ceasefire,” during the talks. He also said negotiations with Iran had achieved substantial progress and could open the door to broader regional stability.
