US-Iran War News Live Updates: The US Treasury Department on Monday issued a temporary 60-day general licence authorising the production, delivery and sale of Iranian-origin crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemicals through August 21. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the licence was issued following “productive” negotiations between US and Iranian officials in Switzerland. “Treasury has issued a temporary 60-day general license authorizing Iranian oil production and sales after productive Switzerland talks,” Bessent said.
Vance’s first address after talks: US Vice President JD Vance said Washington’s priority is protecting both Israel’s security and Lebanon’s sovereignty, while ensuring Hezbollah no longer threatens northern Israel. Vance was delivering his first public comments as he addressed the press after high-level talks between Washington and Tehran concluded in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. On negotiations, Vance struck an optimistic tone, saying progress had been made, that would lay “good foundation” for a permanent solution. Vance also said Iran has agreed to invite inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) back into the country. The move aims at international monitoring of Iran’s nuclear programme.

Switzerland talks: The Iranian delegation left Switzerland and was returning to Tehran following talks with the United States after 18 hours of “intensive” negotiations. Headed by chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Iranian representatives “left the building where the talks were held after about 18 hours of intensive talks and consultations,” the IRNA state news agency reports, said that they were en route to Tehran.

Swiss Government welcomes arrival of US delegation, says it’s on its way to Burgenstock
The Swiss government on Sunday welcomed the arrival of the United States delegation led by JD Vance in Switzerland, and said that it was headed to the Burgenstock, near Lucerne, for the implementation of the 14-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the US and Iran early this week.
Over a post on X, the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We welcome the arrival of the United States delegation in Switzerland.”
It added, “The United States delegation is on its way to the Burgenstock as part of the implementation of the MoU signed between the #unitedstates and #iran.”
