US President Donald Trump said Iran has informed Washington that it is not seeking tolls, insurance fees or any other charges on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing such reports as false. Trump also warned that if such reports are proved right, Washington would pull out from the negotiations.

Trump also said no money has been paid or released to Iran by the United States. Instead, he added that some Iranian funds under US control would be used to purchase American agricultural products, including corn, wheat and soybeans, to help address food needs in Iran.

IAEA to visit Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites: The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) head Rafael Mariano Grossi signalled that the agency’s inspectors would visit Iranian nuclear enrichment sites, a key component in the initial deal sealed between the United States and Iran, to work out an end to the war. This comes at a time when Tehran has dismissed claims that it will allow nuclear inspectors once again into the country, following Trump’s claim that Iran has agreed to the “highest level” of monitoring, Al Jazeera reported.

‘19 million barrels of oil passed through Hormuz’: In a social media post on Truth Social, Trump had claimed a record 19 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz in a single day and said oil prices were falling as tensions eased.

IMO evacuates seafarers: The UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) has started evacuating more than 11,000 seafarers stranded in the Gulf waters because of the war against Iran. While Iran has been pushing for a charge to be levied on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned no country should impose tolls.
