Commonwealth Games Medal Tally: India’s Standings, Medal Count, & Full Winners List from Glasgow

India are placed eighth in the Commonwealth Games 2026 medal tally after Day 5, thanks largely to the weightlifters delivering. The latest weightlifters to bag medals were Gyaneshwari Yadav who clinched silver in the 53kg category and Bindyarani Devi who won bronze in the 58 kg category. Later in the day, India saw a deluge of medals with Sarvesh Kushare bagging a silver in high jump, weightlifter Ajaya Babu clinching a silver of his own in the Men’s 79kg event while para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar added another gold to the country’s tally with her top of the podium finish in Women’s Shot Put F57. Shilpa Shyla, another Indian competing in the same Women’s Shot Put F57 category, bagged a bronze.
Rishikant Singh was the first Indian weightlifter to win a medal at Glasgow 2026, winning silver in men’s 60kg. Mirabai then took centre stage, breaking the Games and Commonwealth record by lifting 85kg in snatch, the Games record in clean and jerk by lifting 105kg and dominating the field to win her third consecutive CWG gold. Later in the day, Raja Muthupandi won India’s fourth medal of the Games and the third of the day.
Additionally, boxer Lovlina Borgohain is assured of a medal after receiving a bye to the semifinals of the women’s 75kg event, guaranteeing her at least a bronze without stepping into the ring. Her medal will reflect in the tally once its colour is confirmed.

Australia are dominating the Games, leading the medal table with 59 medals (26 gold, 13 silver, and 20 bronze). England are second with 32 medals (8 gold, 13 silver, 11 bronze), while Canada occupy third with 21 medals (7 gold, 8 silver, 6 bronze). Nigeria are fourth with 10 medals (6 gold, 4 silver), followed by Scotland in fifth with 11 medals (5 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze).
India’s Medals
Indian weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav continued India’s medal rush, clinching a silver as records were broken left, right and centre in a riveting women’s 53kg competition at the Commonwealth Games on Monday. The 23-year-old from Bhondiya village in Chhattisgarh totalled 199kg (88kg snatch + 111kg clean and jerk). Meanwhile, the experienced Bindyarani Devi won the bronze medal in women’s 58kg category competition. Bindyarani lifted 87 in the snatch section, and 112kg in clean and jerk for a total lift of 199kg. Later in the day, Indian weightlifter Valluri Ajaya Babu won silver medal in men’s 79kg category while Sharmila Dhankar scripted history as she won India’s first para athletics gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, clinching the top spot in the women’s shot put F57 event. Another Indian, Shilpa Shyla, was awarded the bronze medal following an Indian protest in controversial circumstances. Also, Sarvesh Kushare became first Indian to win a silver medal in men’s high jump event.
On Sunday, Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu underlined her status as India’s greatest weightlifter of her generation with a record-shattering third successive Commonwealth Games gold, while Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi claimed a silver each as the country enjoyed a productive day. On Friday, weightlifter Jhandu Kumar had opened India’s medals’ tally in the men’s heavyweight category with a best lift of 190kg.
