Iran-Israel war update: Dubai International Airport suspends all flights; Heathrow Airport issues passenger advisory
Iran-Israel News: Iran has shut airspace, following a missile attack by Israel and the US. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued conveying the same, as per flightradar. The attack by joint forces of was nicknamed “Operation Lion’s roar”. As per BBC, Israel, too, has shut its airspace.
Apart from Tehran, blasts were also heard in the cities of Qom, Karaj, Kermanshah, and Isfahan.
A visual representation of the airspace over Iran and Israel by Flightradar24 showed them devoid of any planes.
Airlines in India are also issuing advisories to customers, asking them to remain prepared for changes to any schedule related to flights to and from Iran.

India’s largest domestic carrier IndiGo said: We are closely monitoring regional updates concerning Iran and its airspace. The safety and security of our customers and crew remain our highest priority. Our teams stand prepared to implement any necessary adjustments as the situation evolves. Customers are advised to check their flight status prior to departure. In the event of any impact, updates will be communicated promptly via registered contact details.” IndiGo further said it will continue to keep flyers informed of any changes.

Meanwhile, Air India has also suspended its flight operations to the Middle East. Sharing a post on X, it said: “In view of the developing situation in parts of the Middle East, all Air India flights to all destinations in the Middle East have been suspended. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety for our passengers and crew. We will continue to assess the safety and security environment for our flight operations and adjust operations proactively as required. Our teams will be extending all necessary support to passengers.”

In a statement, EaseMyTrip said: “Due to the ongoing military escalation between Iran and Israel, airspace in both countries remains closed for civilian flight operations as a precautionary measure. If your itinerary includes transit through or near this region, your flight schedule may be adjusted and travel duration may increase as airlines reroute services for safety. Heathrow Airport issues passenger advisory
In a statement, Heathrow Airport said: “Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East and resulting airspace closures in the region, a small number of flights at Heathrow have been cancelled or delayed. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information on their flight.”

In a statement, Boston Logan International Airport said: “Due to the situation in the Middle East, flights to the area including Dubai, Doha and Tel Aviv may be affected. Please check with your airline before coming to the airport.”

- ITA Airways Travel Advisory
ITA Airways has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv and would not use the airspace of Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran until March 7. Flights to and from Dubai were suspended until March 1, reports Reuters.
- Oman Air Travel Advisory
Oman Air has also suspended its flight operations to and from Baghdad. “In light of recent developments in the region, our flights to and from Baghdad have been temporarily suspended. The rest of our network is operating as scheduled and, where re-routing is necessary, will utilise flight paths well distanced from conflict areas. We advise all guests to check their flight status at omanair.com before leaving for the airport,” it said.

Qatar Airways has also suspended flight operations to and from Doha following the closure of Qatari airspace. “The airline is working closely with government stakeholders and the relevant authorities to support impacted passengers and will resume operations when the airspace re-opens.

- Flight operations suspended at Dubai International Airport
In a statement, Dubai Media Office said: “Dubai Airports confirms that all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) are suspended until further notice.

London’s Gatwick Airport has said that some flights to and from the airport may experience delays or cancellations due to airspace restrictions in the Middle East, reports Reuters.

British Airways cancels flights amid Middle East tensions
As per Reuters, British Airways has cancelled flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain until March 3 due to the situation in the Middle East, following strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran. “We are closely monitoring the situation and have taken the operational decision to cancel our flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain up to and including 03 March and have cancelled today’s service to Amman,” the airline said in a statement.

Iran retaliates
The latest update by Israel’s IDF pointed to a retaliation by Iran. “A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat. In the past few minutes, the Home Front Command has sent a precautionary directive directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas,” the IDF said in an X post.
The IDF said that sirens were rung across Israel following missile launch by Iran. “At this time, the IAF [Israeli Air Force] is operating to intercept and strike threats where necessary to remove the threat,” it said.
