England New Zealand 1st Test, Day 1 Live Cricket Score.
England vs New Zealand (ENG vs NZ) 1st Test Live Cricket Score Updates: New Zealand lost Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor cheaply before tea on the opening day of the first test against England but an assured half-century from debutant opening batsman Devon Conway saw the visitors end the second session on 144-3.
New Zealand won the toss and skipper Williamson elected to bat in bright sunshine at Lord’s, which welcomed back spectators for the first time in nearly two years but limited capacity to 25% due to the COVID-19pandemic.
Nicholls rides the bounce and punches it square on the off-side, comes back for the second run, brings up 200 for visitors New Zealand.
What a debut for Devon Conway, brings up 100 in style with a flick of the wrist. His knock includes 11 fours. A sublime innings from the Blackcaps opener, who becomes the sixth player to hit a Test century on debut at Lord’s. Devon Conway secures a spot on the Lord’s Honours Board in his debut Test. Devon Conway is the 12th player to score a century on Test debut for the Blackcaps, he has a target of 132 (Kane Williamson 131 v India) for the highest score on debut outside of NZ for the side.

Conway shuffled inside the line on the leg glance, off the inner half of the bat and split the gap between the keeper and leg slip with precision for a boundary. NZ are 158/3 after 57 overs.
James Anderson has found very little seam movement today, only 0.61 degrees – the last time he found less on Day 1 of a home Test was against India at Trent Bridge in 2018, 19 Tests ago.
New Zealand have continued to accumulate but lost key duo Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, Anderson and debutant Ollie Robinson with the wickets for England.
Tea time ☕
New Zealand score 59 runs in the second session for the loss of two wickets.

Joe Root is using himself against Henry Nicholls as a good opportunity to get through some part-time spin. Nicholls averages 35.66 against off spin, his lowest for any bowling technique in Tests.
There are total of 3 reviews in the first innings before 80 overs out of which 1 England have lost off a horrible review, the ball was pitching outside leg. The ball tracking reveals it to be pitching well outside leg. A wasted review from England. Conway will remain not out. Henry Nicholls survives. NZ are 120/3 after 40 overs.
Ross Taylor’s trapped plumb lbw to Robinson.Another for England after lunch. Ollie Robinson dismisses Ross Taylor LBW for 14. Henry Nicholls joins Devon Conway 53* and with team total 114/3. NZ are 114/3
Another one for Ollie Robinson 👀

Debutant Devon Conway brings up his first Test half-century at Lord’s off 91 balls. He’s looked at ease so far other than a real barrage of short stuff from Wood. Devon Conway is the first visiting player to score a fifty on Test debut at Lord’s since Rahul Dravid in 1996! NZ are now 111/2.

Big wicket for England as Jimmy Anderson cleans up Kane Williamson, no. 1 ranked Test batsman, for just 13. It’s the seventh time in Tests that Anderson has got the better of the New Zealand skipper, who ends up inside-edging it onto off in his attempt to try and hang back in the crease.
BIG WICKET for England!
James Anderson has bowled Kane Williamson soon after the lunch break for 13.

Two straight maidens for Robinson, and Wood’s hit Conway again and brought a short leg in – he’s looked a little uncomfortable, but finishes the over with a fine pull in front for 4 just past the short fielder’s head. Anderson replaces Robinson.
Such a beautiful batting by Williamson. Calm and Composed as always. First, Conway opened the over with a beautifully played boundary. Conway leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it back past the non-striker. Then, Williamson followed by leaning into the drive, played with an angled blade and picks the gap wide of cover for a boundary. NZ are 72/1 after 19 overs.
Bowled!! Maiden Test wicket for Robinson! Tom Latham plays on to give English the first scalp! It’s time for Williamson to take strike! The number one-ranked batsman in the world! It’s Anderson vs Williamson. NZ – 60/1
A maiden Test wicket on debut for @ollierobinson25 👏#ENGvNZ#ENGvsNZ#Cricket#devonconway

A solid start from the New Zealand openers, Latham and Conway taking the Black Caps to 35/0 after 10 overs at Lord’s. Now it’s time for Ollie Robinson’s first over in Test cricket.
He’s only been at the crease for seven overs, but Devon Conway looks well-suited for Test cricket.

Stump mic picking up Broad before his first over: “I might go with four grabbers rather than three and one.”. Meanwhile, the first boundary of the bat from Conway as Broad overpitches. Score after 6 overs, NZ 23/0
Before making his debut today, Devon Conway has built a remarkable record in New Zealand. Against right-arm seamers in first-class cricket there, he averages 63; against off spin, he averages 71. A potentially difficult challenge for the English attack.
