England (ENG) vs Pakistan (PAK) T20 World Cup Match Today Live Cricket Score Updates: England, riding on their skipper Harry Brook’s sensational century, beat Pakistan by two wickets in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Group 2 game at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Tuesday and thus qualified for the semifinals as well.
Pakistan, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, managed 164/9 in 20 overs. It was an innings of two halves, where opener Sahibzada Farhan scored a fighting fifty, but the middle order could not withstand the pressure as Pakistan’s innings faltered towards the end.

Chasing 165, England were off to a terrible start with opener Phil Salt being dismissed for a golden duck. Jos Buttler was removed on two off three in the third over, before Jacob Bethell fell in the fifth over, all removed by Shaheen Afridi. When Tom Banton was dismissed by Usman Tariq in the eighth over, England had only 58 runs on the board. England were pegged back with four quick wickets, but skipper Brook led from the front and added a crucial 45 runs with Sam Curran for the fifth wicket and stitched a 52-run partnership with Will Jacks for the sixth wicket.
The Shaheens are all but out of the semifinal race after their first game of the Super 8 stage against New Zealand was washed out in Colombo. With just one point from two Super 8 games, Pakistan need a lot of other results to go their way in Super 8 Group 2 for them to make it to the top four.

‘You perform and we will be quiet’: Shahid Afridi’s advice to Shadab Khan over beating India in World Cup comment

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has told that all-rounder Shadab Khan should silence critics through his performances after the latter hit back at criticism by stating that it was only a team in which he played that managed to beat India in a World Cup match. Pakistan had come under fire from former players after their 61-run loss to India in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Shadab then made his comments after Pakistan beat Nambia by 102 runs in their next match and thus sealed qualification to the Super Eights.
Shadab and other senior members of the current Pakistan squad like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi played an important role in their victory over India in a group stage match of the 2021 T20 World Cup. It was the first, and thus far only, time that Pakistan had managed to beat India in any men’s World Cup match, T20 or ODI. “Shadab was absolutely right when he said that we didn’t beat India in the World Cups, but his side did. They got respect after that, but they couldn’t handle it. After they defeated India, they could not handle the issues between them. Shadab should also know that when he was not able to perform for the team, we stood up for him on national television, saying he is the backbone of the team,” said Shahid Afridi on Samaa TV.
