Modi-Trump meet at G7 Summit 2026 | Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are set to meet on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France amid major geopolitical developments in West Asia. The leaders are expected to discuss the evolving situation in the region, including the US-Iran agreement and efforts to restore maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies and India’s oil imports. Both the leaders shared a warm handshake and brief exchange at the summit Tuesday, marking their first face-to-face interaction in 16 months ahead of a closely watched bilateral meeting scheduled for today.
Energy security key point of discussion: Energy security is likely to feature prominently amid concerns over supply disruptions caused by regional tensions. Sources said negotiations on the India-US trade agreement are in the final stages and could be concluded in the coming weeks. The meeting assumes significance as instability around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil and gas shipping route, continues to impact energy markets and maritime trade.
