G7 Summit 2026 Live Updates: “The reality today is – when it comes to growth, the question should not be about GDP or trade numbers,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the G7 Outreach Session in France, challenging conventional measures of economic progress and advocated for a more inclusive approach to development. He added that the more important questions are: “Growth for whom, with whom and in what direction?”
The prime minister also highlighted India’s “humanity-first” approach to global cooperation, citing initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuel Alliance and Mission LiFE as examples of India’s contribution to global development.

Modi-Trump meet: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are expected to discuss the situation in West Asia, the Strait of Hormuz, energy cooperation and the proposed bilateral trade deal during their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France today.
Energy security key point of discussion: Energy security is likely to feature prominently amid concerns over supply disruptions caused by regional tensions. Sources said negotiations on the India-US trade agreement are in the final stages and could be concluded in the coming weeks. The meeting assumes significance as instability around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil and gas shipping route, continues to impact energy markets and maritime trade.
India-Canada engagement: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Canada strategic partnership and reviewed progress in bilateral economic cooperation. The discussions also covered developments in commercial arrangements related to LNG, PG. and metallurgical coal.
