Iran suspends communication with the US.
Iran-US-Israel War News Today Live Updates: According to a latest report by the Tehran Times, the diplomatic and indirect channels of talks and negotiations between the US and Iran have not been closed. This came moments after multiple reports claimed all channels of talks between the two nations were closed by Iran. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social earlier in the day and said, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.” Trump’s warning to Iran came just hours ahead of the 48-hour deadline he had given. Simultaneously, reports of several attacks have already started coming in from Iran.
Attacks on railway network, residential buildings & Kharg Island: A projectile hit a residential building in Iran’s Shahriar city, killing at least nine and injuring around 15 others, the Reuters reported citing Iran’s YJC. Meanwhile, reports of railway infrastructure being hit have come in from Karaj, Kashan and Zanjan. The IRNA said two people have died in Kashan. Meanwhile, Iran’s key oil export hub, Kharg Island, was targeted in an attack on Tuesday, according to Iran’s Mehr News agency. Reports indicated that multiple strikes hit the strategically significant island—often described as the backbone of Iran’s oil infrastructure.

‘Iranians ready to sacrifice’: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said more than 14 million Iranians have committed to sacrificing their lives to defend Iran. The Israeli Defence Forces or IDF on Tuesday issued an urgent advisory to residents and train passengers across Iran, warning them to avoid train travel and railway lines until 21:00 Iran time due to security concerns, as the West Asia war entered its 39th day. “Dear citizens, for the sake of your security, we kindly request that from this moment until 21:00 Iran time, you refrain from using and travelling by train throughout Iran,” the warning said, adding that being on trains or near railway lines could endanger lives.
The advisory comes after the Israeli army said it launched strikes on a petrochemical facility in Iran that allegedly produced nitric acid for the Iranian military. According to the Israeli military, nitric acid is a critical material used in the production of explosives and other components for ballistic missiles.
The ceasefire efforts between the US, Israel, and Iran have hit a deadlock after Iran rejected a 45-day truce proposal on Monday. With a deadline looming over the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump has sharply raised the stakes, warning of sweeping military action and signalling a decisive phase in the crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for the region and beyond.
Ultimatum
Iran on the Clock: The 8 p.m. Tuesday Deadline
Trump set an 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday (April 7) deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face a massive strike on civilian infrastructure — every bridge and power plant in the country, destroyed within four hours.
“The entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.”
— Donald Trump, White House Press Conference, April 6, 2026

Every bridge in Iran
“Will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night” if no deal is reached by the deadline.
★
Every power plant in Iran
“Out of business, burning, exploding and never to be used again” — Trump’s stated plan for Iran’s energy infrastructure.
⏱
Four hours to complete demolition
“I mean complete demolition by 12 o’clock. And it will happen over a period of four hours if we wanted to. We don’t want that to happen.”
Claims & Justifications
Intercepts, Nuclear Lines, and the Cost of War
Trump claimed US intelligence intercepts showed Iranians near bomb sites begging for strikes to continue, and framed rising fuel prices as an acceptable cost to prevent Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon. Neither claim was independently verified.
“We’ve had numerous intercepts. ‘Please keep bombing. Do it.’ And these are people that are living where the bombs are exploding.”
— Donald Trump, April 6, 2026 · Intercepts not independently verified
◆
The nuclear red line
“We’re never going to let them have a nuclear weapon.” Trump called this the war’s singular purpose — “the war’s about one thing.”
●
Fuel prices as acceptable cost
Any short-term rise in fuel prices is “a price worth paying” to stop Iran going nuclear. Global oil hit ~$115/barrel on April 6, up ~30% since the war began.
Negotiations
War or Deal? Trump Said He Didn’t Know
When asked whether US operations were winding down or escalating, Trump gave a remarkable non-answer — acknowledging genuine uncertainty even as he threatened the largest single strike of the war. On the ceasefire, he called Iran’s response significant but refused to call it enough.
“I don’t know. I can’t tell. It depends what they do. This is a critical period.”

The F-15 Rescue
How Trump Opened the Press Conference
Trump opened the briefing with the rescue of two F-15E crew members shot down over Iran. He described a 150+ aircraft operation involving CIA “exquisite technologies” and called it the most complex rescue in US military history. One airman survived nearly 48 hours in Iranian mountain terrain before extraction on Easter Sunday.
“One of the largest, most complex, most harrowing combat searches ever attempted by the military. But in the US military, we leave no American behind.”
