Meanwhile, Nepal Prime Minister Balen Shah today spoke about the government’s prompt response to the sudden and devastating flash floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, stating that the rescue of people was the top priority. “The incident took place around 8:30 AM. As soon as we got to know about the incident, we alerted our teams. A meeting was called at 9:15 AM. Helicopters were kept on standby. At 10:30 AM, our emergency rescue teams were ready to be deployed,” news agency ANI quoted Shah as saying.

As the toll in Nepal’s flash flood has crossed 1,100, rescuers Wednesday raced to reach workers possibly trapped inside tunnels at hydropower projects. Among nearly 4,000 people missing after the deadly deluge, 900 are hydropower workers believed to be trapped in 12 projects, with 500 likely to be stuck in tunnels, news agency Associated Press (AP) reported.
