The teenager hit four back to back sixes in the first over itself, and welcomed Pat Cummins with a six first ball as well. He raced away to a 15-ball half-century and then went on to convert that into a 36-ball century. It was his second IPL century and first of this season. Sooryavanshi fell the very next ball and walked off to a standing ovation from the home crowd. SRH captain Cummins is playing his first match of the season, he won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Having started their IPL 2026 season with three home games in Guwahati, Rajasthan made the right call in hindsight after winning all three games at their second home venue. The inaugural edition winners began with a win over Chennai Super Kings and their winning streak continued for the next three games as they beat Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru to sit with eight points from four wins in as many matches.

Then came a mid-season slump for Riyan Parag’s Rajasthan, who suffered losses at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, they returned to winning ways after defeating Lucknow Super Giants away from home at Ekana in a low-scoring game.

A tally of 81 in seven outings can put anyone’s spot in the side in jeopardy, even if he’s the captain. One can safely assume, however, that Riyan Parag‘s position at Rajasthan Royals isn’t under immediate threat. It should be.
Royals have leaned heavily on their top three — the explosive opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, followed by Dhruv Jurel — and as long as they fired, the poor returns lower down were glossed over. But when the top order fails, someone has to step up. Parag has been distinctly unable to do that. He has been in the middle neither for a long time nor a good time. And he often has a problem against decent bowling.
