US Iran War LIVE: Iran’s state TV on Wednesday said it had obtained a draft of an initial, unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States aimed at ending their conflict. Under the proposed framework, Iran would restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within a month, while the US would withdraw military forces from Iran’s vicinity and lift its naval blockade.
The report said the framework excludes military vessels and proposes that Iran manage ship traffic through the strait in coordination with Oman, adding that the agreement is not yet finalised and that Tehran will not take any steps without “tangible verification”. However, the White House has refuted the presence of any such MoU with Iran and dubbed it as a fabricated report.
Israel-Hezbollah conflict update: As Israel continues to expand its ground offensive in southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah operative was killed while collecting an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on Wednesday, the Israel Defence Forces claimed over a statement on X. They said the UAV “posed a threat to our forces in the area,” adding that the Israeli Air Force will “continue to operate in defense and support of our forces in southern Lebanon.”
This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country’s troops were seizing strategic positions inside Lebanese territory. Israeli strikes have killed at least 31 people and injured 40 so far, with attacks also targeting the Bekaa region and Qaraoun Dam area. Netanyahu warned operations against Hezbollah would intensify further.
Pakistan’s mediator role questioned: Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has termed Pakistan’s role as a potential mediator in the US-Iran conflict as “more than problematic”, citing Islamabad’s long-standing hostility towards Israel. His remarks came after Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif opposed Pakistan joining the Abraham Accords, which seek to establish diplomatic, economic and security ties between Israel and Arab nations. In a post on X, Graham urged Pakistan to respond to US President Donald Trump’s call for mediators in the US-Iran war to join the accords, saying it was “imperative” for Islamabad to clarify its position.
