US-Iran reach a deal, says Trump: US President Donald Trump announced that the US and Iran had reached a deal, saying Washington would lift its naval blockade of Iran. “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” Trump posted on Truth Social. Iranian state TV claimed Tehran had forced the US to accept the agreement. Details of the deal were not immediately released.
What comes next: A deal signing ceremony is expected in Switzerland on June 19, with US Vice President JD Vance confirming his attendance and saying President Donald Trump may also join. The memorandum of understanding is expected to launch 60 days of further negotiations. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif said the ceasefire is “now in place”, with reports of him attending.
