Most of the money USD 420 million  will go toward funding treatment services for affected young people. The remaining amount is earmarked for awareness campaigns, prevention work, screening programmes and related costs, to be rolled out over the next five years.

This follows an earlier phase of the trial, in which jurors ordered Meta to pay USD 375 million in civil penalties after finding the company knowingly damaged children’s mental health and hid what it knew about child sexual exploitation occurring on its platforms.

Iranian Footballers Get Citizenship

Two members of Iran’s women’s football team who claimed asylum in Australia back in March have now been granted Australian citizenship, according to the Associated Press (AP). Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh were sworn in at a ceremony in Brisbane on Wednesday by Immigration Minister Tony Burke, surrounded by friends and members of the local Iranian community.

Both players described the moment as deeply emotional, saying they felt proud and grateful to officially belong to their new country, while still carrying their Iranian roots with them. The pair had joined local club Brisbane Roar after Iran withdrew from the Women’s Asia Cup hosted in Australia, a decision that came after tensions escalated between Iran and the US and Israel earlier this year. Their asylum bid had drawn international attention, including public appeals from US President Donald Trump.
