Indian among 12 killed in fresh Russian strikes on Ukraine, says Zelenskyy

(Photo: AP)An Indian citizen was among 12 people killed after Russia carried out a wave of missiles and drones on Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday, as the Ukrainian capital came under attack for the sixth straight day. The strikes hit residential buildings, a railway depot and civilian infrastructure across the city, triggering fires and leaving thousands without power in other parts of the country.
In a detailed thread on X, Zelenskyy said Russia used “a significant number of jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles” in the assault, adding that “residential buildings and civilian infrastructure have been damaged.”

“Overall, 12 people were killed, among them an Indian citizen, and dozens more were injured in the attack. My condolences to everyone who has lost family and loved ones,” he said.
Where did the attacks hit?
According to Zelenskyy’s post, the damage was spread across multiple regions:
- A strike on a railway depot in Kyiv killed 7 people.
- In Boryspil, a five-story residential building was damaged and 50 people were evacuated; 4 people were killed and 13 injured in the city overall.
- Odesa and the surrounding region faced continued guided aerial bomb and drone strikes, leaving thousands of families without electricity.
- A border crossing with Romania and export infrastructure were also deliberately targeted, he said.
- The Kherson, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Dnipro regions all came under attack as well.
Nearly 350 first responders were deployed in Kyiv and the surrounding region alone to deal with the aftermath, Zelenskyy wrote. He said emergency crews battled multiple fires across the capital, while falling debris and direct hits damaged homes and businesses in several locations, including an apartment building and a business facility in Boryspil.
